About This Service
Before KWS began its street lighting initiative, large parts of Khurram Hithar and surrounding villages were plunged into complete darkness after sunset. This posed significant safety risks — accidents on unlit roads, fear of crime, and restricted movement for women and children.
Our street lighting project was born from community demand. Residents identified it as one of the most pressing infrastructure needs, and KWS responded with a systematic approach to illuminating the village.
We began with a comprehensive survey of the village's streets, identifying high-priority locations such as main thoroughfares, school routes, mosque approaches, market areas, and residential streets where safety concerns were highest.
Each installation uses durable, weather-resistant LED lights mounted on robust poles. Where electricity supply is unreliable, we've installed solar-powered lights that operate independently. The solar units are equipped with batteries that provide consistent lighting throughout the night.
Our maintenance team conducts monthly inspections to ensure all lights are functioning. Burnt-out bulbs are replaced promptly, and damaged poles or wiring are repaired. This proactive approach ensures that the village stays well-lit year-round.
The impact has been immediate and profound. Women report feeling safer walking after dark. Children can attend evening tutoring sessions. Shops stay open longer, boosting local commerce. And the overall sense of community safety has improved dramatically.
How It Works
Community Survey
We map the village and identify high-priority locations for street lighting based on safety needs and community input.
Installation Planning
Our team designs the lighting layout, selects appropriate technology (solar vs. electric), and procures materials.
Professional Installation
Trained electricians install the lights, ensuring proper wiring, weatherproofing, and optimal positioning.
Ongoing Maintenance
Monthly inspections and prompt repairs keep all lights operational. Community members can report issues for quick resolution.
Our Impact
43+ street lights now illuminate Khurram Hithar's streets, covering over 20 key routes. Night-time safety incidents have reduced significantly. Women and children can move freely after dark. Local businesses benefit from extended operating hours.
